Standard Machine

We supply solutions for some of the largest natural resource and manufacturing industries in the world, designing and manufacturing quality parts for industries including pulp and paper, mining, oil and gas, chemical, steel mills, marine, transportation, military and aerospace.
These quality parts include mechanical power transmission drives, baseplates, couplings and associated components such as take-up winches, pulleys and sheaves. We supply custom designed applications, drop-in replacements for competitors’ reducers or increasers, and offer a complete rebuild centre for all types of gearboxes.
All work is certified to an ISO 9001-2015 Standard. In-process inspections and final test runs are performed to ensure all parts meet Standard Machine’s own rigid quality measures.

Founded in 1965, Standard Machine® has steadily grown its facilities and capabilities — while also raising the standard for reliability.
Gary and Barb Porter originally founded Construction Machine in Saskatoon. The business grew quickly, moving its headquarters multiple times and expanding into Edmonton with SMS Gearworks. Through the 1980s, the company branched into gear cutting and grinding.
In 1991, the company developed a planetary gear system for JODTR, a rig for testing the joint of the Canadarm for the International Space System
